For over 150 years and five generations, Plasencia Cigars have been mastering the art of tobacco growth and craftsmanship using the finest tabaquero tradition to roll every cigar. In 1865 Don Eduardo Plasencia sought success and opportunity from the rich fields of Cuba until his nephew, Don Elder Sixto was forced out of Cuba almost 100 years later. They relocated to the sun-kissed soils of Nicaragua, starting from scratch by planting their best seeds. After 13 years the family were hit by tragedy again and moved on to the soils of Honduras. In 1990, they moved back to Nicaragua to revive the land, while keeping their farms in Honduras. They tilled the land to create the finest handmade cigars.
As of 2015, Plasencia is one of the largest growers of tobacco in the world with more than 6,000 employees, 4 factories, and 8 plantations in Honduras and Nicaragua, producing 40 million cigars a year. In 2017 the family’s own brand was launched, Néstor Andrés, Gustavo, and José Luis Plasencia introduced the Alma series, Reserva Original, and the Cosecha 146 among others.
“Its not just our passion. It’s our reason for existing.”
